Sunitha Mathew, MS, is a Vice President and Practice Director for Clinical Research. She has extensive experience directing key business and health research initiatives pivotal to organizational growth, including 20+ years overseeing complex clinical, epidemiological, and translational research programs both domestically and internationally. She has directed coordinating center projects in precision medicine, blood banking and transfusion medicine practice, cancer epidemiology, and chronic disease prevention, successfully optimizing collaboration among stakeholders to maximize research outcomes.
Mathew is a thought leader in the use of cutting-edge data science techniques for linking, harmonizing, and making sense of “big data” such as electronic health records, claims, and other administrative data for research purposes. Mathew’s research uses innovative analysis techniques and tools to better understand the links between blood donor and component characteristics and adverse transfusion outcomes. This research will make an important contribution to clinical practice by improving the safety and effectiveness of transfusion therapies in both children and adults.
